If you have customers already on active contracts outside Turnstile, use the Add subscription workflow to bring them in. This is separate from the quoting workflow. You are creating a subscription directly rather than starting with a quote.
To start adding an existing contract, click Add subscription on the homepage or go to Customers > Add subscription.
For the full reference on both paths, see our article on adding an existing contract.
Choose your path
You have two options when bringing existing contract details into Turnstile:
AI import: Upload your contract PDF, and Turnstile's AI extracts the subscription details for you to review and confirm. This is the fastest option for most contracts.
Manual entry: Build the subscription by hand. We recommend uploading the contract PDF alongside manual entry so you can reference it as you go.
Both paths walk you through the same final steps: reviewing subscription details, confirming billing settings, setting a billing takeover date, and finalizing the subscription.
Set your billing takeover date
The billing takeover date is the date Turnstile will begin generating invoices for this contract. Set it carefully to avoid billing your customer for a period they have already paid outside Turnstile.
For example, if a customer signed a 12-month contract on June 1 and has already paid for June, July, and August outside Turnstile, set the billing takeover date to September 1.
