In this article, we will discuss how to amend a subscription in Turnstile. Common use cases for subscription amendments are:
Changing a product price in the next billing period.
Adding or removing a product in the next billing period.
Extending or reducing contract length.
When amending a subscription, you can update the following areas:
Subscription start date
Pricing terms
Billing
Terms and conditions
Amend a subscription
There are two ways to amend a subscription:
Amend with quote: Creates a quote for the proposed changes that requires customer review and e-signature before the subscription is updated.
Amend subscription directly: Updates the subscription immediately without creating a quote or requiring a customer signature.
Amend subscription with a quote
Access a customer's subscription(s) from Customers > All customers by selecting the customer.
On the customer page, find the subscription and click Manage > Amend.
Select Amend with Quote.
Select your amendment effective date and click Create amendment.
The listed dates are based on the invoice schedule for the subscription.
Selecting a custom date may create a prorated invoice for any partial period of service.
Make your desired changes on the amendment details page.
Click Next: Create quote and edit quote details as needed. Available quote edits are:
Offer valid thru date.
Contacts.
Contractual language.
Signers.
Click Review & send and work through the review steps. You will:
Review subscription terms, including a side-by-side comparison of the original and amended subscription with changes highlighted.
Review billing.
Review quote acceptance and delivery. E-signature is the only method for a customer to accept an amendment created by quote.
Review quote.
Click Send quote or Publish quote, depending on the delivery method you chose.
Note: Each step of the review and send quote process will have a Return to quote and/or Edit amendment button(s) if you need to make additional changes prior to sending the amendment quote.
Once both parties have signed, the amended subscription will be reflected on the customer page.
Amend subscription without sending a quote
Access a customer's subscription(s) from Customers > All customers by selecting the customer.
On the customer page, find the subscription and click Manage > Amend.
Select Amend subscription directly.
Select your amendment effective date and click Create amendment.
The listed dates are based on the invoice schedule for the subscription.

Make your desired changes on the amendment details page.
Click Review & confirm and work through the review steps. You will:
Review subscription terms, including a side-by-side comparison of the original and amended subscription with changes highlighted.
Review billing.
Click Confirm amendment to apply your changes.
Note: If you need to make any changes during review, click Edit amendment.
Once confirmed, the amended subscription will be updated on the customer page.
