Subscriptions FAQ

Frequently asked questions about subscriptions

How far in advance will Turnstile show a subscription is ending?

Active subscriptions will have an expiry badge up to 120 days before the final day of service.

How do I duplicate a subscription?

To duplicate a subscription, use the sidebar navigation and click the Customers dropdown and select All subscriptions. Locate the desired subscription in the list then click the three dots icon on the far right and click Duplicate from the dropdown. A message will appear in the top right corner prompting you to Edit Subscription.

Can I have a customer sign for a subscription amendment?

Currently Turnstile does not support E-signature for amendments. If you need a signature, we recommend creating a new quote and selecting E-Signature as the acceptance method.

Why can I not amend a subscription?

Only subscriptions with the Upcoming or Active status can be amended.

What is the difference between a "Lapsed" subscription and an "Inactive" subscription?

A Lapsed subscription is a subscription that passed its end date. An Inactive subscription is a subscription that was terminated and reached its termination date.

How do I change the currency for a subscription?

To change the currency for a subscription, click the dollar icon in the bottom right corner of the Pricing Terms section on the Edit subscription page. You cannot change the currency for a subscription that has already been created.

Can I turn on auto-renew for an active subscription?

Yes, you will need to amend the subscription and toggle on Auto-renew in the "Pricing Terms" section of the amendment details page.

What does auto-renew do to my subscription's end date?

When auto-renew is enabled, Turnstile automatically extends the subscription by one term once the end date passes. The existing subscription stays in place β€” no new subscription is created β€” and the end date advances by one full term.

For example, a one-year subscription ending May 9, 2026 with auto-renew enabled will show an end date of May 9, 2027 once the end date passes.

To stop the subscription at the end of the current term, turn off auto-renew or set a termination date.

What is the difference between auto-renew and renewal?

Auto-renew and renewal are two distinct features:

  • Auto-renew extends the current subscription automatically when the end date is reached. No action is required, and no new subscription record is created.

  • Renewal is a manual action that creates a new subscription record, typically alongside a new signed contract. The original subscription retains its original end date, and the renewal appears as a separate subscription on the customer page.

Why does the product name on my subscription not match the product name on the invoice?

If the product name for a subscription is different from the associated invoices, it may indicate that the catalog product name was edited when the quote or subscription was created.

What will happen to the subscription invoices when I create an amendment?

All invoices associated with the former version of the subscription will automatically be marked as cancelled and new draft invoices will be created to reflect the subscription amendment.

What payment methods are supported by Turnstile?

Turnstile supports payment processing through Stripe and off-band payment methods.

Stripe payment methods:

  • ACH and bank transfers

  • Credit and debit cards

Note: Turnstile does not support Stripe Link. Most customers prefer ACH, credit, or debit to reduce transaction fees.

To use Stripe payment methods, select Collect payments for me in your invoice settings.

Off-band payment methods:

  • Bank transfers outside of Stripe

  • Check payments

  • Cash payments

To use off-band payment methods, select Collect payments manually in your invoice settings during quoting, when adding a subscription, or in Invoice settings for existing customers.

You'll then mark invoices as paid manually by clicking Mark as paid for the issued invoice.
