What does auto-renew do to my subscription's end date?
What does auto-renew do to my subscription's end date?
When auto-renew is enabled, Turnstile automatically extends the subscription by one term when the end date for the current term passes. The existing subscription stays in place — no new subscription is created — and the end date advances by one full term.
For example, a one-year subscription ending May 9, 2026 with auto-renew enabled will show an end date of May 9, 2027 once the initial end date passes.
To stop the subscription at the end of the current term, set a termination date.
What is the difference between auto-renew and renewal?
What is the difference between auto-renew and renewal?
Auto-renew and renewal are two distinct features:
Auto-renew extends the current subscription automatically when the end date is reached. No action is required, and no new subscription record is created.
Renewal is a manual action that creates a new subscription record, typically alongside a new signed contract. The original subscription retains its original end date, and the renewal appears as a separate subscription on the customer page.
Why does the product name on my subscription not match the product name on the invoice?
Why does the product name on my subscription not match the product name on the invoice?
Turnstile keeps two separate copies of a product's name: the name currently in your product catalog, and the name that was set on the quote (and any subscription created from it) at the time it was put together. Your subscription view always shows the current catalog name. Invoices work differently. Once an invoice is generated, its line items keep whatever product name was in effect at that moment, permanently. They don't update if the catalog name changes later.
This mismatch happens for two reasons:
The catalog product was renamed after the quote or subscription was created. The subscription updates to the new name immediately; any invoices already generated keep the old name.
The product name was customized directly on the quote when it was created, and never matched the catalog name to begin with.
For example: a quote is built using a catalog product named "Standard Plan," and the first invoice shows "Standard Plan" as the line-item description. If the catalog product is later renamed to "Core Plan," the subscription view immediately shows "Core Plan" — but that first invoice still says "Standard Plan," and always will. Any new invoices generated after the rename will show "Core Plan."
