Quote templates

Quote templates define the layout and structure of your quotes. Learn how to create, configure, set a default, and archive quote templates in Turnstile.

Quote templates define the preferred layout and structure for your quotes. A quote template appears in two places:

  • When you create a new quote using the Custom quote option in the plan dropdown, your chosen default quote template is applied automatically.

  • When you create a plan, you'll select the quote template that the plan will be displayed within.

Create a quote template

To create a new quote template:

  1. Go to Catalog > Quote templates.

  2. Click Add quote template to start from a blank template, or click an existing template to edit it.

  3. In the editor, hover over any blank area to reveal the green + Add block option.

  4. Click and drag blocks to rearrange them (for example, the header block, terms, or product catalog).

  5. To attach a PDF, click the paperclip icon in the top right. Choose where the attachment appears:

    • Prepend attachment: Places the PDF before the quote

    • Append attachment: Places the PDF after the quote

  6. Select Preview in the top left to see how the template will appear on a quote.

  7. Click Publish in the top right to make the template available for use in plans and new quotes.

Set a default quote template

  1. Go to Catalog > Quote templates.

  2. Click the ... menu on the template you'd like to set as default.

  3. Select Set as default.

Note: The default template applies to all new quotes unless a plan with a different quote template is selected for the quote.

Archive a quote template

You cannot archive the default quote template. To archive a quote template currently set as the default, you'll first need to set a new default quote template.

  1. Go to Catalog > Quote templates.

  2. Click the ... menu on the right of the template you'd like to archive.

  3. Select Archive.

  4. Click Confirm.

Note: Existing draft or sent quotes that use a newly archived quote template will not be affected.

Duplicate a quote template

  1. Go to Catalog > Quote templates.

  2. Click the ... menu on the right of the template you'd like to duplicate.

  3. Select Duplicate.

  4. Click the ... menu on the right of the new duplicate template to make edits.

Quote template FAQ

What content can I add to a quote template?

You can add rich text, headers, lists, images, tables, and catalog terms. Quote templates are commonly used for standard legal language that should appear on every quote.

Can the text on a quote be edited outside of the template?

Yes. While quote templates are created and edited in Catalog, text can be edited directly on individual quotes as needed.

Can I customize a quote template to match my brand or legal requirements?

Yes. Quote templates can be tailored in the Catalog under Quote templates to align with brand guidelines, legal requirements, or customer preferences.

What's the difference between a quote template and a plan?

A quote template controls the structure, layout, and content of the quote document itself: things like text blocks, images, tables, terms, and attached PDFs. It's essentially the visual and contractual wrapper.

A plan is the pricing and packaging layer: the products, pricing models, and billing details that get pre-configured for a common offering. Every plan has a quote template as the foundation.

So in practice, the quote template is the container, the plan is the content. A sales rep picks a plan when starting a quote, and the quote template attached to that plan determines what the customer-facing document looks like.
