Invoice alerts & invoice alert center

Invoice alerts help you proactively identify and resolve issues that could prevent invoices from being sent or paid. When Turnstile detects an issue, we'll surface it across three areas of the product: the Invoice workflow, the Invoice action center on the Home page, and in-app notifications.

Types of invoice issues included in invoice alerts

There are two types of invoice issues we'll call out:

  • Blocking errors prevent the invoice from being issued or paid. These appear as red banners on the invoice.

  • Warnings flag potential problems that do not prevent an invoice from being issued but may still require attention. These appear as yellow banners on the invoice.

Managing invoice alerts from the invoice workflow

When accessing Invoices > Invoice workflow, invoices with unresolved issues display an Action required indicator in the list, so you can identify them without opening each invoice individually.

To focus on only those invoices, use the Action required filter in the workflow. Clear the filter to return to the full invoice list.

When you open an affected invoice, the invoice drawer will display:

  • A banner describing the issue.

  • A call-to-action directing you to the right place to resolve it for any blocking errors.

Once the issue is resolved, the indicator and banner automatically disappear.

Managing invoice alerts from the invoice action center

The Invoice action center on your Home page surfaces invoices that need attention without requiring you to navigate into the Invoice workflow.

The Invoice action center displays up to five invoices, prioritized by severity. Each row shows invoice details and a summary of the issue.

  • To resolve an invoice issue, select Resolve next to the invoice. You'll be taken to the relevant area in Turnstile to address it. Once resolved, the invoice is automatically removed from the module.

  • To view all invoices with issues, select View all. This opens the Invoice workflow with the Action required filter already applied.

In-app invoice alert notifications

When you enable notifications, we'll send an in-app notification when one or more invoices require attention. Issues detected on the same day are batched into a single notification, and you won't receive more than one notification per 24-hour period.

Each notification includes:

  • The number of invoices requiring attention

  • A direct link to the Invoice workflow

Where the in-app invoice alert notification takes you

Turnstile routes you to the most urgent stage of the Invoice workflow based on where affected invoices currently exist. If issues span multiple stages, you'll land at the highest-priority stage first. You'll land in:

  • Issued if one or more affected invoices are here.

  • Ready to issue if no affected invoices are in Issued.

  • Ready for review if no affected invoices are in Issued or Ready to issue.

  • In progress if no affected invoices are in any of the above stages.

Enable or disable in-app invoice alert notifications

To enable or disable invoice alerts:

  1. Head to Settings > Notification preferences.

  2. In the Invoice notification section, toggle on/off Invoice issues daily digest.
